Ciutat Vella<\/b> (Catalan pronunciation:\u00a0<\/small>[siw\u02c8tad \u02c8be\u028e\u0259]<\/span>, meaning in English \u00ab\u00a0Old City\u00a0\u00bb) is a district of Barcelona, numbered District 1<\/b>. The name means \u00ab\u00a0old city\u00a0\u00bb in Catalan and refers to the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Ciutat Vella<\/i> is nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the neighborhood called l’Eixample<\/i> (the Extension.).
