The name means &#8222;old city&#8220; in Catalan and refers to the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. <i>Ciutat Vella<\/i> is nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the neighborhood called <i>l&#8217;Eixample<\/i> (the Extension.). It is considered as the centre of the city; the <i>Pla\u00e7a Catalunya<\/i>is one of the most popular meeting points in all of Catalonia.<sup class=\"noprint Inline-Template Template-Fact\">[<i><span title=\"This claim needs references to reliable sources.
